The finding of adequate biomarquers indicative of disease state, prognostic evaluation and
predicting response to therapy is a research priority.
Similarly, the success of targeted therapy
clearly demonstrated the need for molecular analysis of the tissue itself. The failure of the
individualization of peripheral biomarkers in serum is explained by the low concentration of
these proteins hidden by the bigger and more concentrated proteins. To solve these problems
we need disruptive technologies. Micro-Nano-technologies are a great opportunity for that.
We developed a micro-device in silicon devoted to molecular biopsy without any tissue
removal. It was validated at the preclinical level, and toxicological analysis was done. This
project will demonstrated the proof of concept in patients. At least, we will investigate the
nano-capture using magnetic nano-beads guided by magnetic force to the pathological
locations.
